Job Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics has an immediate opening for an experienced, highly motivated Research Scientist to facilitate research operations within the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. This position will work closely with research faculty to manage daily operations for existing grants and assist in securing future grants.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Identifies future grant funding opportunities
Assists in the preparation of grant applications
Assists with budget preparation for future studies
Assists in manuscript preparation and submission
Represent the research program at meetings, national and international research consortia
Assist in preparing, submitting, and maintaining IRB, FDA, NCI, NIH, NSF and/or other regulatory documents and research correspondence as needed
Collaborates with the division manager and research accountant to monitor study expenditures and ensures appropriate expenditure of funds
Prepare for and coordinate site visits made by sponsors or federal agencies during course and at the close of the study
Helps develop applicable data management queries and oversees data cleaning activities
Coordinate approval of new study agreements and contracts; assists in the development of case report forms
Performs other necessary research support functions as assigned by PI, manager or division chief

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or other scientific discipline in a related field plus four years of experience or equivalency required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Preferences

Superior scientific writing skills- ability to write portions of manuscripts and meet the requirements of a co- or first-author; ability to write portions of grants and serve as co-Investigator
Experience directing extramurally funded research, including research protocols, procedures, data collection, IRB oversight, multi-site collaboration, and budget management
Superior organizational skills – experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, ability to independently and correctly prioritize tasks, excel at time management, and demonstrate capacity to present information professionally and concisely
Team Player – demonstrates enthusiasm, positive attitude, integrity, and commitment to the research mission by helping with special projects and working as directed and where needed
Critical thinking skills – ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and make recommendations
