Job Description

Summary

The Postdoctoral Associate are trainees working in an apprenticeship capacity in preparation for a career as a scientific professional. The Postdoctoral Associate will work on functional characterization of AMD-GWAS signals to understand the molecular basis of observed genetic associations. The position will focus heavily on analysis of high-throughput bulk and single-cell multi-omic data (ATAC-seq and RNA-seq) in ocular tissues. The ideal candidate will have strong genomics and molecular biology skills and some experience in programming is desirable. Must demonstrate scientific productivity, rigor and creativity with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Job Duties

  • Plan, conductand analyzeresearch projects.
  • Dissociate human/model organisms tissue samples and prepare them for next-generation sequencing (NGS) compatible experiments.
  • Perform a wide range of cellular and molecular biology techniques, such as cell culture, CRISPR-mediated genome editing and luciferase assays.
  • Apply intellectual curiosity and passion for applying data science to biomedical problems.
  • Summarize, visualize, and communicate research and analyses findings to principal investigator and for research publications in scientific journals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in human genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, vision research or other related field
  • Adept at genomics and cellular/molecular in-vitro assays and techniques
