Job Description
Summary
The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery is in search of a Coordinator, Patient Support Services to join our growing clinical team. This position will positively contribute to our patients' experience by communicating with professionalism and compassion and serving as a liaison to the department. The coordinator will provide clinical support by managing surgical schedules, reaching out to patients regarding referrals, pre- operative instructions, and appointments. They will work closely with departmental clinical staff, as well as partners in BCM's business office, and will regularly interact with affiliate hospital staff.
Job Duties
- Enters and maintains patient records.
- Enters orders for patient tests and obtains proper paperwork.
- Corresponds with patient's referring physician as needed.
- Assembles medical records and insurance information for patient appointments.
- Supports patient access by staffing 'Live Answer' phone line and resolving patient requests in real time.
- Assists with hearing aid inventory and supply management.
- Provides administrative support for physicians as needed.
- Reviews referral data and ensures all referral loops are being closed in an effective and timely manner.
- Responds to patient phone messages and electronic communication pertaining to supported physicians' clinical practice as appropriate.
- Schedules new patients that may be calling to schedule an appointment through 'Live answer'.
- Assists with calls relating to the hearing and balance center.
- Coordinates appointments for patient's needing appointments to see an audiologist.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in healthcare, particularly in an academic or surgical/procedural practice.
- Experience using an EMR such as Epic, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Prior experience coordinating multiple, complex schedules.
