Research Scientist I – Chemical Proteomics

The Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Scientist and high throughput instrumentation specialist to join our team, focusing on assay development and target identification.  The Research Scientist will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of potential cancer drug targets identified through fragment-based drug discovery screens and chemical proteomics. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to translational research and the development of novel therapies for cancer treatment.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the design and optimization of high throughput compatible cell-based screening protocols: The candidate will collaborate closely with oncologists, medicinal chemists, and cancer biologists to develop relevant cell-based screening assays. Miniaturize and optimize assays for high throughput compatibility. Perform screening campaigns to identify initial hits, analyze and interpret screening data to triage and validate initial hits and perform EC50 determination of resynthesized hit compounds.
  • Instrumentation and Technology: The candidate will operate and maintain cutting-edge high throughput screening instruments. Stay abreast of advancements in the field and recommend the integration of new technologies.
  • Collaboration and Communication:  Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment, including the disciplines of medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and preclinical development. The candidate will work closely within the team to facilitate downstream processing for chemoproteomic analysis and genetic validation experiments. Present findings at internal meetings, conferences, and contribute to publications.


Credentials and Qualifications:

  • The candidate will have: a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
  •  A proven track record in high throughput screening technologies, particularly in the context of cancer biology.
  • Strong expertise in cell and biochemical assay development, miniaturization and enablement of 384-well compatible assays.
  • A thorough operating knowledge of HTS instrumentation and maintenance.
  • Furthermore, the candidate will have excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills and a proven track record of working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
