Job Description

Summary

The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic Lead Project Manager to work and contribute to novel translational projects as we advance our understanding in the pathology in critically ill children such as in the field of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, sepsis, and cirrhotic cardiomyopathy. Performs project management implementation activities, including identification, evaluation, scheduling and controlling for multiple, complex and interrelated initiatives. Leads the planning, scope definition, financial justification, vendor selection, resource management and timeline tracking of critical tasks. Coordinates with leadership in the delivery of projects and provides regular, accurate status reports to management. Monitors progress and organizes resources on large complex projects. Coordinates with leadership strategic planning as required.

This position may be eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement within the Greater Houston, TX area after an onboarding and training period.

Job Duties

  • Provides guidance, review, approval, and direction to project teams through the management of scope, budget, timeline, risks, issues, and resources for ten to twelve large-scale projects.
  • Analyzes research project goals and plans schedule of deadlines for project completion and develops action plan and processes for project completion from inception to evaluation.
  • Coordinates with research physicians and leadership to oversee and administer individual research projects, multi-center division projects, quality and division administration projects.
  • Works with appropriate managerial personnel to prioritize projects, associated tasks, organize work groups and/meetings.
  • Manages efforts between all research doctors, research manager and research coordinators to lead project activities; assigns tasks and provides guidance to personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the project.
  • Facilitates project support activities regarding training.
  • Develops and leads communication plans that support project initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains information packages covering the status and variance of the project, including budget, timeline, and resource allocation.
  • Ensures implementations are properly tested, approved by affected stakeholders, and documented for hand-off to operational support.
  • Maintains a high degree of focus on reported issues and work closely with team members, project stakeholders, and College leadership (as appropriate) to identify areas with risk potential.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Six years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field and four years of project management experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in a healthcare and/or research setting.
  • Project Management certifications
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Visio.
  • Flexible with change, good at multi-tasking and problem-solving.
  • Strong organizational skills, prioritization skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a dynamic team involved in basic and clinical research.
