Summary

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology-Oncology is seeking a candidate for an Assistant Professor rank to provide quality care to the community with a focus on hematology conditions. The position is located at the Texas Children’s Hospital Main Campus in Houston.

Job Duties

Hematology clinical programs include Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia, Hemostasis and Thrombosis, Bone Marrow Failure, Immune Hematology, and General Hematology. On all programs, physicians and patients are supported by dedicated social work, psychology, child life, and nutrition specialists among other services. The teams also collaborate extensively with a robust stem cell transplantation service as indicated.

Duties will include

  • Manage outpatient and inpatient care for designated patients in a tertiary hospital setting.
  • Inpatient attending time includes night and weekend calls and rounds. During this time attendings serve the role of both consultants and primary attendings for patients.
  • Education and supervision of trainees including fellows, residents, and advanced practice practitioners.
  • Perform procedures (bone marrow) on patients as indicated.


Clinical or basic science research opportunities may be available or expected on a case-by-case basis and will be discussed with Division leadership during the application process.


Minimum Qualifications

  • M.D. or equivalent degree
  • Board certified or board eligible for Pediatric Hematology-Oncology boards
  • Prior to employment start date must obtain Texas Medical License and Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
