Gift Officer, Individual and Family Giving

Position Highlights:

The Gift Officer, Individual and Family Giving (GO) will successfully manage their own portfolio of individual donors and prospects. This work will ultimately lead to an increase in the GO's individual year-over-year annual attainment, thus the collective dollars raised by the Major Gifts Team. The position will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong multi-year, roadmap of solicitations and supporting pipeline, by focusing on effective qualification and cultivation strategies enabling effective Foundation financial forecasting of lead annual and mid-level giving donors and prospects. Their portfolio will have a high focus on prospect and donors within the greater Tampa Bay region. The GO will support the Director and AVP in the development and execution of strategies and accompanying tactics, including portfolio building and geographic growth.

 

Select Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed annual goals and metrics set forth each fiscal year by working with Director and/or AVP to meet goals. In addition, successfully manage a portfolio of prospects and donors with a range of capacity, predominantly lead annual and mid-level donors and potentially major gift level.
  • Keep knowledge current regarding Moffitt’s Institutional Priorities and focus fundraising efforts in support of them. To include becoming knowledge in top institutional priorities and focus on cultivating existing or new donors to support those priorities.
  • Maintain effective and professional communications internally and externally. To include ensuring direct line manager is aware of progress to goal; proactively communicating any issues, and challenges that may impact ability to meet individual goals.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree within relevant field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of frontline fundraising, and proven ability to close five figure gifts.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional work experience working with other nonprofits or development related teams to maximize performance (personal and of the team) such as: event-based fundraising, research and prospect management, donor relations, gift administration and/or other revenue generating activities (This may be inclusive of the 2 years of fundraising experience if the experience was performed in a non-profit organization).
  • Proven track record of conceptualizing, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing lead annual and/midlevel gifts on a consistent basis.
  • The sophistication and experience of working with internal team members including individuals at the executive level, major gifts prospects, and other VIPs on occasion.
  • Deep understanding of the fundraising cycle, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, and managing a large, dynamic portfolio of prospects at different stages in this cycle.
  • Excellent planning and goal-setting skills, and the ability to effectively course correct.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with Team members (at various levels in the hierarchy) to deliver maximum effective performance and results.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working in a culture of philanthropy with knowledge, tact and diplomacy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.

 

Preferred:

  • Four (4) years of experience as a frontline fundraiser in a health care organization or higher education setting.
  • Preferred experience in grateful patient fundraising or alumni fundraising setting.
