Summary

A Research technician position is available in the Department of Integrative Physiology at Baylor College of Medicine. Research in the lab uses molecular biology and protein biochemical techniques, confocal fluorescent imaging, and in-vitro force measurements to assess Ca2+ signaling, excitation-contraction coupling, and muscle force in skeletal muscle. Has computer skills that include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Candidates has at least 6 months experience with the care and handling of mouse models and experience in measurements of in-vitro skeletal muscle function. Attention to detail, excellent communication and organizational skills, and an ability to work as a member of a team is critical.

Job Duties

  • Assists with general lab maintenance and orders supplies.
  • Maintains animal colonies, cares and handles mice.
  • Assists with biochemical and molecular biological assays in support of lab personnel.
  • Works on harvesting tissues.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has computer skills that will include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Has least 6 months experience with the care and handling of mouse models and experience in measurements of in-vitro skeletal muscle function.
  • Attention to detail, excellent communication and organizational skills, and an ability to work as a member of a team is critical.
