Responsibilities
The Rice Lab is seeking a Research Technician to conduct research in cellular and molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and normal brain function using mouse models.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Managing a mouse colony (updating strain database, setting up breeders, weaning litters, and genotyping by PCR)
• Dissecting, sectioning, immunostaning, and imaging mouse brain tissue
• Culturing of mammalian cells
• Biochemical techniques, including Western blotting, ELISA, protein purification, plasmid preparations
• Lab organizational tasks
• Participating in lab and departmental meetings
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree typically in one of the biological sciences and/or equivalent years of relevant laboratory experience.- Previous experience handling laboratory mice.- Previous experience in molecular or cellular laboratory techniques
