Job Description

As a Critical Care Transport Paramedic, you will be responsible for knowing medications, administering them, the equipment, and patient assessment and documentation. The patients you will be caring for are the most critical and we expect our paramedics to work to the top of their certificate. We are looking for someone who has experience either in a tertiary care center or in critical care transport. This team travels to various hospitals throughout Northeast Ohio and we only transport one patient at a time. No day is the same in this position, giving you the opportunity to learn something new daily. This team received the Safety award from Air Medical Transport, and the Gold Level Lifeline EMS award while working with Medina LST.

The certifications are ACLS/BLS required upon hire, NRP/PALS within 6 months, ITLS within 1 year, and either FP-C or CCPC within 2 years. Join our team and together, provide exceptional patient care.
Caregiver in this position works a 4-week rotation: 6:30am – 6:30pm, 6:30pm – 6:30am.

  • A caregiver who excels in this role, will:

  • Navigates ambulance to respond to emergency calls.

  • Maintains equipment on assigned mode of transportation.

  • In collaboration with medical control officer, assesses nature and extent of illness or injury requirement critical care transport.

  • In collaboration with medical control, administers appropriate emergency medical care as dictated by scope of practice for EMT-P in Ohio.

  • Communicates with medical personnel at hospital, reports/records observations, and follows directives until report and hand-off at hospital.

  • Travels in assigned modes of transport for up to extended periods of time to provide care for patients.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:

  • Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in the current State

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an EMT-P required in a critical care setting as a flight or surface transport paramedic or in-hospital experience.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Newborn Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire.

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) and FP-C (flight paramedic-certified) required within 2 years of hire.

  • Current valid State Driver's License (VDL).

  • State licensure if required by state law.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:

  • Experience in emergency room, etc., or other critical care transport preferred.

  • Experience in larger metropolitan area preferred.

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program.

Certifications:

  • Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in the current State

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Newborn Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire.

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) and FP-C (flight paramedic-certified) required within 2 years of hire.

  • Current valid State Driver's License (VDL) required.

  • State licensure if required by state law.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform in limited quarters, ground and air transport modes and in all types of terrain and weather conditions. Frequent bending, twisting, climbing steps or ladders, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.

  • Medium Work - exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
