Job Description
Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.
The laboratory of Dr. James Godfrey is seeking a goal-oriented, highly motivated staff scientist with a passion for science to lead translational immuno-oncology projects.
The main goal of our laboratory is the translational development of immunotherapies for lymphoma. In particular, we have a keen interest in understanding how tumor-cell intrinsic mechanisms regulate the endogenous immune response against lymphoma, and how this informs pathways driving response and resistance to immune-based treatments in this disease. We aim to leverage this information to 1) develop novel biomarkers that promote precision-based medicine and 2) discover strategies to further enhance the efficacy of existing immunotherapies.
The lab employs syngeneic and genetically engineered pre-clinical mouse models, as well as patient specimens, in both basic and translational studies of lymphoma. We also use an array of cellular, molecular, and genomic analyses to interrogate questions in a number of in vitro, in vivo, and bioinformatic studies.
