Job Description
The Department of Political Science at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a teaching-intensive faculty position in American politics. This is a full-time, non-tenure track promotion-eligible Renewable Term Assistant Professor position is expected to begin in August 2025.
We seek to hire a student-centered teaching specialist who will be responsible for creating and leading co-curricular and extracurricular engagement opportunities within the department in support of OU’s commitment to student success. This person will join our general education teaching faculty, offering multiple large sections of American Federal Government each year. The ability to also offer courses in one or more of the following areas is particularly welcome: campaigns and elections, voting behavior, campaign management, political participation, public opinion, and mass media.
This position is within the Department of Political Science, a large department with two undergraduate majors (Political Science and Public & Nonprofit Administration), multiple minors, two master's degree programs (Political Science & Public Administration), and a doctoral program. The department is housed within the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma. The University of Oklahoma is the flagship research institution for the state of Oklahoma, enrolling over 30,000 students. It is located in Norman, OK, a vibrant college town just 20 miles south of Oklahoma City.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Political Science or a related field at the time the position begins in August 2025. Preference will be given to applicants with meaningful undergraduate teaching, student engagement, and relevant professional experience (especially in the area of campaigns and elections). The teaching load for this position is six courses per year (3-3).
