Job Description
The University of Oklahoma invites applications for the Henry Bellmon Chair of Public Service, an endowed, tenured position in public administration at the rank of associate or full professor. We seek candidates with the following: a robust research program, a national reputation in the field, a demonstrated record of publications in high quality journals, and experience in mentoring students in original research. The selected candidate will teach three courses a year, mentor graduate students, conduct research, and host an annual community engagement event. We are open as to substantive focus within public administration / management. The appointment is expected to start in August 2025.
This position is located in the Department of Political Science, a large department within the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences, which houses a strong doctoral program in Political Science (with fields in public administration and public policy), two master’s degree programs (MPA and MA), two undergraduate majors (Political Science and Public & Nonprofit Administration), and multiple minors, including one in Nonprofit Organizational Studies. The University of Oklahoma is the flagship research institution for the state of Oklahoma, enrolling over 30,000 students, located in Norman, OK, a vibrant college town just 20 miles south of Oklahoma City.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Policy or a related field, have earned tenure and promotion, have a strong record of research productivity and publications in high quality journals, and have experience mentoring students in the production of original research. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in doctoral student training, external funding success, or community engagement. The teaching load for this position is three courses a year (2-1).
