Job Summary:

The Office of Medical Education at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is accepting applications for a manager to lead the Office of Assessment, Evaluations, and Outcomes (AEO). This full-time, University Staff (unclassified) position is responsible for overseeing assessment processes for MD, PhD, and GME learners, faculty evaluations, and program outcomes. The AEO Manager plays a key role in supporting continuous quality improvement and LCME accreditation while shaping the office’s operations and business strategy in partnership with the Associate Dean of Medical Education and Strategy.

In this role, the AEO Manager will lead a multi-functional team and oversee team projects and processes, which include but are not limited to data management, statistical analysis, workflow optimization, and dashboard development, ensuring seamless operations through cross-functional collaboration. The AEO Manager will independently oversee data stewardship and provide strategic insights to advance institutional objectives.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in project management, data management, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to lead teams effectively while balancing multiple priorities.

Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Associate Dean of Medical Education and Strategy with a dotted line to the Director of AEO.

Supervision Exercised: This position supervises at least six (6) full-time professional staff from entry level professionals to program managers, performing research, statistical analysis, and analyzing continuous improvement actions from data.

Key Responsibilities:

As a key member of the Office of Assessment, Evaluations and Outcomes leadership team, the AEO manager will represent the office in various settings and play a key role in developing and fostering strong working collaboration with and across the School of Medicine department and units.

Some of the primary duties will include:

Personnel Leadership:

Oversee training, supervision, and performance management of a team of six (6) full-time exempt professionals.
Maintain effective communication and high customer service standards among AEO and OME faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders.
Hire and onboard new staff members.
Project Planning and Continuous Quality Improvement:

Oversee and track AEO projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, quality standards, and established goals.
Develop and maintain project tracking and data management systems to support objectives, ensure data integrity, and facilitate audits and accreditation.
Lead cross-functional teams, coordinate task assignments, and drive continuous quality improvement to enhance outcomes and mitigate risk.
Operations:

Develop and oversee standard operating procedures, efficient workflows, and quality control processes for the AEO team.
Serve as a liaison across OME, supporting data visualization, analysis, and stewardship while managing daily project logistics.
Maintain expertise in software used by the AEO team such as Excel, ExamSoft, Qualtrics, Oasis, Tableau, and SQL,provide backup support, and assist staff in producing high-quality reports and presentations.
Strategic Planning and Reporting:

Prepare and present data-supported insights and provide recommendations to leadership to drive decision making and process improvement for AEO operations.
Forecast and strategically plan for staff resources to meet ongoing business needs and unit development.
Budgetary and Procurement:

In collaboration with OME Business Services, oversee procurement, contracts, and budget for AEO.
Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings. Additional on-site days may be required as needed. Please see the campus-wide policy for additional information.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, management, analytics, or related field.
Five (5) years of professional experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or strategic project management.
Two (2) years of experience in progressive leadership roles, managing full-time professional staff with diverse skillsets.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
