The Manager of Supportive Care Medicine Operations is responsible for the day-to-day management of the department’s faculty divisions, supportive care clinical operations, and of specified department-wide programs and initiatives, including space management. The Manager works to ensure efficient operations and growth within the department and executes plans to improve productivity, capacity/utilization, resource management, and patient experience.

The Manager of Supportive Care Medicine Operations supports planning and coordination of innovative programs, with a focus on daily operational oversight, metrics and outcomes; helps implement process improvement plans; and supports key performance indicators including productivity, quality, and expansion.

The Manager of Supportive Care Medicine Operations manages departmental personnel including hiring and onboarding, supervision, and performance evaluations, with a focus on high performance teams and engagement. This position is dedicated to improving departmental performance, physician and nurse engagement, and patient experience, maximizing operational efficiencies and improving results through collaboration with inter- and intradepartmental management, Medical Staff, Nursing, Ancillary, Service Line and Patient Access teams to ensure efficient operations and day-to-day outcomes.

Independently exercises discretionary decision making to solve managerial and/or operational problems.

As a successful candidate, you will:

Operations/Business Support:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of assigned department through departmental personnel.
  • Manage operations for the department’s clinical divisions on administrative operational matters including facilities, IT initiatives, medical center recruitment, budget monitoring, and other resource needs.
  • Develop, gather, analyze and report data and key metrics to evaluate outcomes of department clinical services, programs and initiatives.
  • Support operational management of key initiatives within department including overseeing project plan, milestones, and metrics.

Human Resources:

  • Responsible for personnel actions for department staff and/or faculty as requested, including but not limited to:
  • Initiate internal hiring processes, recruitment, and onboarding of faculty and non-faculty.
  • NES onboarding (visa requests, English proficiency evaluations, AccessNet, login ID, Outlook, Epic, etc.).
  • Organize, schedule, and carry out new employee departmental orientation.
  • Performance review processes (establishing staff performance standards and monitoring progress toward meeting overall objectives, developing individual staff objectives, help facilitate annual review process).

Program Management and Decision Support:

  • Provide administrative and management support for existing interdisciplinary supportive care programs.
  • Project manage new programs involving the clinical faculty, nursing staff, and clinical support staff.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4 additional years of experience plus the minimum experience requirement may substitute for minimum education.
  • 5 years’ clinic or business management experience in an academic research or healthcare environment.
  • 1 year of leadership experience.
  • Inpatient experience preferred.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $44.97 - $75.10 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
