Job Description
Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), a part of City of Hope, an Arizona-based, nonprofit medical research institute dedicated to conducting groundbreaking research with life-changing results. TGen Clinical Laboratory (TCL) is a CAP-accredited clinical laboratory developing and performing cutting-edge sequencing-based testing to assist in the diagnosis and classification of cancers. TCL was developed by TGen to move groundbreaking research into the clinical space. By bridging the gap between research findings and clinical application, we believe medicine becomes more rational, more precise and, well, more personal. We are currently looking for an experienced Molecular Technologist to help us develop, implement, and perform testing in our CAP and CLIA accredited clinical laboratory.
Job Description
Under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Molecular Technologist II will perform technical work involving molecular analysis of various human biological materials. Job duties include complex steps requiring manual manipulation and pipetting, close monitoring and control of processes, evaluation of data, and careful and accurate documentation in a high-complexity laboratory environment.
- Perform all laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing according to standard operating procedures
- Enter and verify data within the laboratory information management system
- Perform routine tests for use in the treatment and diagnosis of disease using standard techniques and equipment
- Maintain detailed records of tests performed and report laboratory test results to appropriate personnel
- Perform quality control procedures; review and report resulting data and maintain result records according to standard operating procedures
- Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning according to standard operating procedures.
- Participate in lab meetings and generate ideas for improving efficiency and productivity in the lab’s operations
- Ensure safe handling and biosafety compliance for all biological samples
- Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as delegated
