Join City of Hope as a Research Business Director providing administrative leadership for a broad area of Research Business Operations. Supporting multiple faculty members, including department chairs and/or institute leaders, directs daily operations through subordinate staff. The role involves assessing, planning, and executing changes to daily processes to achieve strategic initiatives within Research Operations.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Research Administration & Financial Management: Oversee financial reporting, budget development, grant submissions, and contract management, collaborating with PIs and central offices to ensure successful proposal submissions.
- Human Resources: Manage hiring processes for high-level faculty, oversee job and status changes, and support staff productivity through regular meetings.
- Management and Leadership: Provide direction on department business activities, space and facilities management, and staff development, while fostering collaboration with central departments.
- Special Projects: Participate in strategic planning initiatives, process improvements, and organizational committee work, supporting business efficiencies and system enhancements.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines, maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
- Collaboration: Cultivate relationships with internal and external partners to streamline business processes and drive operational excellence.
Your qualifications should include:
· Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
· 6+ years of business management experience in academic research or healthcare, including 4 years of leadership experience.
· Experience in staff supervision, budget development, grant management, and space planning.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $61.23 - $102.25 / hour
