The successful candidate:

This is a Full-time position where you will work Monday through Friday 9am to 5:30pm with rotating on call every 5 weeks along with rotating holidays.

The MRI/X-Ray technologist: operates all Magnetic Resonance (MR)-related equipment (i.e. scanner, coils/arrays, power injector, monitoring equipment, etc.) and diagnostic radiography equipment in a safe and proficient manner; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values; produces high quality images with a minimum of repeats; handles multiple room assignments and all different types of exams on a daily basis, and communicates effectively with physicians, patients, families, and ancillary hospital personnel.

This position may require cross training in additional modalities as directed by the Director of Imaging.

  • Ensures correct administration of contrast after evaluation of lab values and other pertinent patient history. Questions patients regarding sensitivity to contrast media and/or other pharmaceutical levels, and as well indwelling metal during an in-depth review/screening of possible contraindications. Questions all patients of child-bearing years about the possibility of pregnancy.

  • Authenticates all physician orders prior to exam. Maintains accurate records of exams performed. Documents patient exam information in the Radiology Information System, indicating correct start/completion times, tech names and additional charges for supplies.

  • Performs quality assurance on equipment per manufacturer guidelines. Ensures patient equipment remains functional during scanning period and contacts service as needed. May participate in the modality accreditation process. Performs other related duties as required by the Supervisor, Imaging Manager,or Director of Imaging.

  • Participates in on-call rotation for MRI.

Education Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school and is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging, ARRT (R),(MR)

  • Current BLS from American Heart Association required;

  • Completes a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education bi-annually and remains “in compliance” with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology’s continuing medical education requirement (CME).

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of two years of experience after graduation in a major hospital preferred

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knows cross-sectional anatomy of the head, thorax and abdomen, physiology and Magnetic Resonance Imaging and general radiography terminology, practices and procedures.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient and family rights, as identified within the hospital performance standards.

  • Ability to work independently, using sound judgment.

  • Demonstrates awareness of regulatory issues related to scope of practice and patient care and performing in a culture of safety.

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, and written.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures related to patient care and equipment maintenance and operation; uses personal protective equipment to protect from exposure to chemical, radiation and infectious hazards.

  • Shows drive and creativity. Is willing to accept a challenge.

  • Willingly takes on or seeks additional responsibilities.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $32.85 - $54.13 / hour
