Assumes the accountability and responsibility as a professional nurse for providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient centered care for an assigned group of patients. Provides direct patient contact, which includes assessing the patient, developing a comprehensive nursing plan of care, implementing aspects of nursing care to meet identified patient care outcomes, evaluating the effectiveness of a nursing plan of care and education of patients/care givers who require infusion therapy and other nursing services. Follows established nursing objectives, standards, policies, and procedures. Practices within the defined scope of practice for the Registered Nurse and commits to providing safe, quality infusion nursing care.

The successful candidate:

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to work FT, 9a-9:30p variable days between Monday-Friday.

  • Provide comprehensive, continuous, patient-centered care for assigned patients.

  • Direct patient contact: assess, develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans.

  • Educate patients and caregivers on infusion therapy and other nursing services.

  • Follow established nursing standards, policies, and procedures.

Key Duties:

  • Assessment:Collect patient data, update medical records, identify patient needs, and perform critical assessments.

  • Education:Educate patients and caregivers, document comprehension, and provide discharge teaching.

  • Planning Care:Develop and revise care plans, involve patients/families, and refer to support services.

  • Implementing/Managing Care:Provide treatments, advocate for patient care, administer medications safely, and follow infection control measures.

  • Evaluation:Record patient care, observe and address problems, and implement nursing measures.

  • Leadership:Delegate and supervise nursing care, ensure safe working conditions, participate in performance improvement, and manage clinical resources.

  • Conduct:Address unit problems, follow attendance policies, assist others, maintain a clean work area, and float to other units as needed.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Current state Registered Nurse License required

  • Bachelor of Science Degree required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and completed within 3 years from hire date

  • Current BLS (Obtain AHA certificate within 30 days of hire) required

  • ACLS ((Obtain AHA certificate within 30 days of hire)) preferred

  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certification preferred

  • Current Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card or must obtain within 6 months of hire

  • Minimum 2 years in oncology and/or medical-surgical units preferred

  • Experience in multi-disciplinary approach to patient care

  • Excellent infusion therapy-related skills (peripheral and central lines)

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $32.85 - $54.13 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
