As a successful candidate, you will:
Responsible for the scheduling of patients for transplant coordination workup as directed by the Manager/Nurse Coordinator, including following up on requests for authorization of services as applicable. Screens ordered tests and procedures for medical necessity. Communicates with patient/caregiver as needed to schedule workup visits. Follows up on cancellations. Provides patients with itinerary of future appointments and patient instructions as applicable. Prepares necessary paperwork for patient appointments.
- Screens ordered tests and communicates to applicable persons whose test and/or diagnoses that do not meet criteria to be covered by Medicare. Provides patient with advance beneficiary notice as applicable.
- Creates pre-registration record and links pre-registration record to scheduled appointments. If applicable. Assures that the correct pre-registration account number is linked to the scheduled appointment.
- Creates a request for authorization of service if applicable. Assures that all pertinent information is included in the authorization request so that the patient financial staff can complete the authorization request as needed. Schedules patient workup appointments for transplant / CAR T as directed by the nurse coordinator.
- Provides patient with written itinerary for appointments. If applicable, also provides patient with patient instructions for procedures.
- Receives and manages phone calls from patients and departments regarding patient appointments.
- Schedules appointments as needed via telephone/InBasket/email and sends out printed itinerary and/or patient instructions as necessary.
- Updates outpatient capacity tracker tools and admissions list, and balances schedule accordingly.
- Reviews and updates future appointments as directed by coordinators.
- Contacts patients as directed who fail to show for scheduled appointments. Re-schedule appointment as directed and indicate reason for cancellation.
- Ensure authorization is in place for patients in a timely manner, partnering with financial counselors and financial clearance to resolve insurance or payment issues.
- Ensures TAR’s are processed in a timely manner.
- Develops and maintains necessary records and files for efficient operation.
- Manages forms inventory to assure forms are stocked and available as needed.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of various sections within the department in order to provide assistance and back-up coverage when necessary. Maintains supply of educational materials for coordinators to use
- Support process of consenting paperwork
- Coordinate with Kaiser Transplant Coordination Team as directed by Manager/coordinators
- Coordinate lodging appointments with Hope Hotel for patients needing lodging
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Your qualifications should include:
- High School or equivalent
- Two years related experience in health care setting
Preferred experience:
- Clinical licensure preferred (MA, LVN)
- Two years of experience with patient scheduling or unit clerk experience. Experience with Bone Marrow Transplant patients preferred

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $24.18 - $33.85 / hour
