Job Description

Job Summary
Coordinates and oversees the acquisition, use, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies; prepares and maintains materials used in lab experiments, provides laboratory instruction as well as supervise and train students assisting in lab activities.

Responsibilities
Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Contributes to selecting, preparing, and instructional delivery of laboratory courses and experiments.; Maintains established experiments, lab classroom set-ups, and/or lab projects/services to include but are not limited to solution making.; Manages, orders, and coordinates the availability, use, and maintenance of laboratory equipment, materials, and/or key inventories.; Oversees directs, and trains graduate and undergraduate students to properly use laboratory equipment and supplies and provides expertise and advice concerning safety.; Advises on equipment evaluation and selection for lab facility requirements.; Directs the instructional lab program alongside departmental faculty for students to include conveying technical information to those enrolled in or teaching labs.; Supervisory Responsibilities include training, assisting, and assigning tasks to others. May provide input to performance reviews of other employees.

Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: Knowledge of laboratory techniques, safety procedures, and teaching principles.; Skilled in basic solution making and the aseptic technique.; Knowledge of the use of standard laboratory equipment used to teach introductory biology lab courses.; Years of experience in laboratory supervision will be considered in the absence of a Master's degree.

Proposed Salary
The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $50,000 - $51,500 and includes full benefits.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include: Experience in the coordination of lab operations, procedures, and instruction.; Experience in supervising and delegating duties to students (graduate and/or undergraduate).; A Master's degree in life science (Biology, Microbiology, biomedical science, etc.) is required.; Laboratory supervisory experience is preferred and will be considered in the absence of a Master's degree.

Conditions of Employment
