The School of Education, Human Performance and Health seeks a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Middle-Secondary Mathematics Education to prepare future teachers in obtaining certification in middle level and secondary science education, in addition to advisement and field-based supervisory responsibilities. The successful candidate will join a team of teachers and researchers working collaboratively to recruit and retain science and mathematics teachers funded by a National Science Foundation Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program grant. Candidates should have a commitment to working collegially with faculty and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Required Education and Experience
The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate in mathematics education or closely related field; ABD candidates with planned completion dates by August 15, 2026, will be considered. A minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience in middle and/or high school math classrooms is required. A demonstrated interest in teaching at the undergraduate level and a defined research agenda with presentations and/or publications in science education are necessary qualifications. A successful background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications
To be considered at the rank of Associate Professor, applicants must: a) currently hold the rank of Associate Professor at an accredited institution of higher education, b) have a record of highly effective teaching, c) have a well-established research agenda, and d) have evidence of continuous service. Experience teaching at the undergraduate level and working with pre-service teachers, as well as significant professional engagement with middle and secondary faculty in public schools is preferred. An ability to identify and practice assessment measures for evaluating program outcomes, as well as teachers’ impact on student learning in middle and secondary school environments, is desired.
