Job Description
The University of Jamestown is seeking two broadly trained biologists to join the Division of Natural Science as Assistant or Associate Professors of Biology in August 2026. The Division of Natural Science is committed to preparing students for successful careers in science and health-related fields through student-centered pedagogy, hands-on laboratory experiences, and a supportive academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
The two successful candidates will teach courses related to their interests and expertise. These may include a subset of the following courses:
Anatomy and Physiology
Cell Biology
Evolution
Genetics
Zoology
other upper-level electives, introductory biology, or non-major courses
These are 9-month positions with 24 credit hours each academic year. Successful candidates will also:
Advise and mentor undergraduate students, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Help students learn core skills in critical thinking, communication, and the process of science.
Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and community engagement.
Contribute to the development of innovative curricula and interdisciplinary initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in biology or a related field.
Passion for excellence in teaching at an undergraduate institution.
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in biology or a related field.
Previous higher education teaching experience.
Experience in teaching laboratory courses.
