Perform anorectal and esophageal manometrics and pH testing independently within a laboratory setting in non-sedated adult and pediatric patients.
Perform GI Physiology Laboratory and Manometry/pH testing independently within an inpatient adult and pediatric population.
Perform GI Physiology Laboratory and Manometry/pH testing independently within procedure and operating room settings in adult and pediatric patients.
Ambulatory: This section pertains to competency in performing GI Physiology Laboratory bench and manometry testing. This type of testing is performed at all three GI Physiology Laboratory locations.
Hydrogen Breath Testing (HBT): A test to evaluate for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth and carbohydrate malabsorption.
Urea Breath Testing: A test to detect Helicobacter pylori infection either diagnostically or eradication post treatment.
Colonic Transit Testing: A test to measure colonic transit time using radio-opaque markers. This test requires GPT to conduct an educational presentation describing how to perform the test at home.
Video Capsule Endoscopy: A test utilizing a wireless capsule to collect images of the small intestine designed to evaluate reasons for gastro-intestinal bleeding.
Patency Capsule: A test using a dissolvable capsule to determine if non-dissolvable capsules may safely traverse through the stomach and small intestine.
Colon Video Capsule Endoscopy: A non-invasive test using images collected by a non-dissolvable wireless capsule to assess for suspected colonic diseases.
Electrogastrogram: A test assessing electrical signals traveling through the stomach muscles.
Anorectal Manometry and Balloon Expulsion Testing: A test to assess motor function of the anorectum and rectal sensations.
Esophageal Manometry: A test to assess motor function of the upper and lower esophageal sphincters along with evaluating esophageal body metrics.
Impedance 24 pH Testing: A test detecting reflux activity, categorizing events as acidic or non-acidic. Additionally, a symptom association profile is calculated determining the statistical rigor of reflux events
